Happy birthday to my blog! Newcomers might find it weird that there are only 20 blog posts. But old readers know I have an old blog that was written in Chinese. The first blog post there was on January 20, 2022. After 100 blog posts, I changed my written language and created another blog.

As an amateur blogger who doesn’t write much during work, blogging is an intensive activity. I have to decide the topic for the target publication day. If it is a technical or tutorial post, I need to further study the topic to write. Sometimes I have to practise it or perform experiments and record the finding. The blog post should then be much more valuable to the readers. If it is a travel blog post, I must spend much more time selecting the photos and retouching them before writing. If it is a story, I have to ensure the storytelling is good to understand, and the reader should find key takeaways after reading it.

Blogging is time-consuming. On the other hand, most of my after-work activities have been resumed. The available time for writing becomes shorter and shorter. When there was a time I couldn’t find any idea to write, that night became a nightmare. Luckily, I didn’t miss any schedule defined in my editorial calendar.

My girlfriend often persuades me to skip one or two posts, but I insist. Many bloggers or YouTubers don’t regularly post new items. But if I didn’t write regularly, I would probably write less often and eventually stop writing. This situation happened 5 years ago. I’ll continue to write regularly until my schedule is fully loaded and can’t accommodate my writing time.

Think about training at the gym. Blogging is a kind of mental training. Through this regular training, I should be much more skilful. But if it is too stressful, I might burn out. Learning to balance writing and other leisure time becomes inevitable.
