This Thursday, I will perform in a concert, Bands around the World, organised by Sforzando Wind Ensemble.
The band will begin with a sorrowful piece, Cry of the Last Unicorn. After that, the band will perform a series of music pieces about different places in the world. In previous years, most of us could only stay in Hong Kong. Now, most of the travel restrictions are relaxed. Before travelling the world, let’s enjoy the concert with music from around the world.
This is the 5th-anniversary concert of the Sforzando Wind Ensemble. This is also the first concert held in a formal concert hall. The committee is excited and made 2 decisions. The ticket costs $10 only, which is the cheapest concert ticket I’ve ever heard about, excluding those free concerts.
As this is a remarkable concert, the concert programme is very tough, especially for amateur comeback players like me. Luckily, several professional trumpet players will be performing with me in the concert. One of them is a professional trombone performer and now a self-taught trumpet player. Playing music with them helps me analyse how professionals study and perform demanding music pieces.
Since the beginning of last year, I thought my life as a music performer would end. But throughout these days, I got chances to participate in various formal and informal performances, officially and unofficially. Although I couldn’t perform at every concert due to some unspoken reasons, I’m still glad that I was invited by my friends. Thank you for your trust, and I hope my forgotten skills would be regained soon.
