If all goes well, I should be in Hida Takayama when this blog post is published.

Two months ago, We planned to visit Japan. We originally planned to stay in Nagoya throughout the whole journey. After a few days of browsing the information, we found Hida Takayama was much more attractive. Thus we focused on Hida Takayama instead of staying in busy cities like Nagaya.

Many things have changed since the last time I travelled outside Hong Kong. Many facilities and shops in the Hong Kong International Airport and Kansai International Airport were closed due to reconstruction or lacking customers. Before the pandemic era, we always ate at Burger King at the Hong Kong International Airport. We also ate at one of the “Big Three” beef rice gyudon restaurants at the airports in Japan. However, all of them are closed in business. A friend advised me to have meals before entering the airport.

Concerning the inbound process of Japan, in the past, we had to fill out the questionnaire in paper form. Now, the Japanese Government has adopted the electronic way. People should complete the application via the Internet, generate the QR codes and show the QR codes to the officials. It seems like the electronic form is convenient. But what if the travellers lose their phone? In fact, a few years ago, my mobile phone was stoned on the last day of my travel to Taiwan. I lost all the electronic access. Luckily, Taiwan relied on paper documents. The dead mobile phone didn’t trouble me.

Unfortunately, the weather is warmer than we expected. It will less likely be snowing during my journey. I haven’t experienced this climate yet. But we will travel to Shinhotaka Ropeway in one of the coming days. According to the previous weather report, the temperature could be as low as -5°C in the afternoon. I’m still hoping to feel the snow during this journey.
