Time flies. Almost 30% of the year 2023 has passed. Do you still remember the resolutions you set at the beginning of this year? Are they still valid in your current situation?

I was a recurve archer in the university team during my undergraduate years. As the regular training time conflicts with the rehearsal time of one of the orchestras, I gave up archery. Although that orchestra has been closed permanently for many years, I didn’t return to archery until 2 years ago.

One of the friends I met in the university archery team was the owner of an archery shop and training centre in 2021. After contacting him, I resumed my archery training (and bought a lot of gear). As playing competitive sports, after a long period of training, I wanted to participate in the competition. Unfortunately, 2021 – 2022 is also the pandemic era. Many archery competitions were cancelled. And even when they resumed last year, I couldn’t enter them for some reason. The only thing I could do was to keep training indoor archery.

At the beginning of this year, I thought of what I wanted to be during this year. I’ve been shooting arrows indoors for almost 2 years. I wanted to make some changes. As everything is back to normal (apparently, to be honest), competitions allow everyone to participate. I want to promote to the more advanced division rather than staying in the same division.

Outdoor archery is fun. I was shooting a 30m target

On coming Sunday, I will participate in an archery competition. To become well-prepared, I spend 5 to 6 nights every week practising archery or going to the gym 5 to 6 nights per week. Although I can’t forecast my competition result, my goal does make me more physically active.

If you struggle to keep your goal, try imagining your future self. Then find a way to approach it.

The bad news is you have to adopt walking in the muddy field
